Mirena all the way[2]!

I'm not sure how you feel about hormonal treatments, but this one is minimally invasive, no hormones in your bloodstream, it releases a very very small quantity since it only needs to act locally...minimal side effects, and the bliss of NOT having a cycle for five years - plus, you can take it out anytime you decide to, with a quick visit to the doctor.
I'm on my second Mirena and loving every moment of it.

Often the only way to stop the fibroids/polyps from growing back is to have the ablation (that's the only reason I did it...tired of surgeries and had already lost an ovary).

Have they checked to make sure you don't have fibroids or polyps? I recently had SEVEN removed, and they say my heavy periods and terrible cramping should ease up!

You are amazing! I love your honesty...and hope that the rest of your week is a LOT smoother...

I had the uterine ablation done about a year and a half ago (at age 39)....and it reduced my bleeding by about 30% maybe...but certainly wasn't an end to periods like I was told it would be. It has other side effects too. I was given the IUD option, but the one best for this has silicone in it, and I was not liking the idea of the silicone in my body...

What herbs are you taking? Just curious. Last fall, I made the mistake of getting essure coils put in. My monthlys have been pure hell since then. I'd do anything not to bleed for 8 days straight and never be able to leave the house for fear of bleeding through every bit of clothing I own because of them!

having grown up on a working family farm ( between Markdale and Flesherton) I became quite aware at a young age that the threshold between this world and the next was very thin; and the passage could be quite abrupt and brutal.farming is messy stuff and anyone venturing in with thoughts of an idealic existance will have rude awakening ( at 3am perhaps when the coyotes come for the hens).
last week I took a large water feeder out to the 81, 5 week old chicks I have up in the barn. they swarmed me as per usual and in my haste to move on ,I plunked it down and went about my other chores. Next morning whilst removing said waterer to refill it I found a chick in the small space underneath it!. She looked flattened. To my surprise she staggered up and walked away with the gait of a 85 year old man! I took her in laundry basket to the kitchen where she remained for a day to re-coup.Her's is the rare story, most are fatal and messy.
As for your uterus ,as a nurse I have seen ablation work very well for women 40 plus but mixed for those under 30. The suggestion of the IUD ( with low dose hormone) might be just the answer you are looking for. They can be expensive if you don't have benefits ( $500 or so) for one that will last up to 5 years.they bring bleeding almost to a close- sometimes no bleeding at all for months- with limited exposure of hormones to local tissues only.
If you are so inclined ,visiting a good Naturpath might be in order as it sounds like you may be over- producing progesterone ( hence the extensive endometrial build up). Working naturally to help your body come into a better balance hormonally may take longer but it might also help with other issues.
Keep your uterus! bladders inevitably fall when the uterus is removed and then a second surgery is needed to prop up the prolapsing bladder!
