I’m in Love and it’s a SUNNY day

March 8th, 2010

It is BEAUTIFUL outside today.  Sun is shining bright.  We took the kids to swimming and Kindergym today for physical fitness and immune system building.  It was great.  Maggie loves to swim on her own now (with a flotation device) and Bob decided to put his nose in the water – a big step.

I love standing back and watching kids interact.  He and a little girl, a few years older were the last in the showers.  They were beside each other, chatting away.  She announces, “OK!  Time to go, so we can go to gym.  Let’s play together there, OK?!”  He trotted right on out, instead of asking for me to push the button on the shower “one more time.”

We did groceries, got the kids balloons at the dollar store and now Scott is off for a jog, pushing the kids in their totally wicked awesome Mountain Equipment Coop double stroller contraption of brilliance.  (Great price, and the best kid containing device we have). Hopefully they are presently napping in tandem.

Had a most excellent weekend with Caitlin and the Meeps.  SO.  Friggin.  Awesome.  I didn’t take any pictures, because while I am great at taking pictures randomly, when the kids are doing things they do 16x a day, I am bad at taking pictures when you know… it may well be months before you see that person again.

Hoping Scott is going to finish drawing my backpiece tonight.  Listening to the puppy gnaw the wood pile.  Leaving you with pictures from some of our skating adventures.

Wow! Mags skating! She is so cute.

The weather over here has turned nasty again…..it should definitely be warmer by now. NO daffodils yet (plants are there, flowers are not).

So, that Mountain Equipment stroller is good for jogging? I’m trying to hunt down a good jogging stroller (well, ANY PROPER jogging stroller, actually), but results are not promising. While they are called “Supertrendy City Jogger” (or somesuch), they are not actually FOR jogging. What kind of terrain does yours handle? And does it fold down to fit in the car? And how much does it weigh?

Ro – that MEC thing comes apart easily (you take all the wheels off, 100% less complicated than it sounds) and fits into the trunk of my Focus hatchback. No room to spare, but it does fit.

While I wouldn’t particularly WANT to carry it for any duration (instead of push) I have friends who have flown with it to EU, used it all over public transit, etc. Loved it. There is a jogging & bicycle attachment, totally great. I use it on the farm, so while the tires don’t have chains or super tread, they will easily go through goat muck and gravel and grass and all that is our yard.

Serious thumbs up from this camp, especially given the price!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the information, Ashely. I’ll definitely look into this when we are planning for number 2. I enjoyed taking Leo for VERY long walks (you know, back when he would still sit in a pram;) and this time I am adamant that I am getting a pram which is up to the task!
