Three totally awesome things:
1. Had a very nice visit with some totally awesome folks. Here’s Meeps with her new accessory. We don’t get very many visitors but the ones we do get sure make up for it.

2. We got the Jeep moved over to a neighbours barn for winter storage. Big check off the list; very happy to have found a nice, close place to keep it protected for the winter. Shoulda heard the roars of glee when the engine roared to life! (Kids and parents alike!) Who knew so much joy could come so instantly with just the turn of a key.

3. After three years and forty two days, Scott and I have our bed to ourselves again! Meeps has moved into “kids room” with Bob. She loves her new bed. So far she sleeps most of the night in her bed and then I bring her back into our room for more boob, where we both pass out. We have never had a crib in our house, both children have slept in our bed with us from birth and have moved out of our bed with no fuss or fright. Independence built with confidence and security. Very nice feeling for everyone.
And, well.
Me: “Honey let’s lay like starfish before we do it, okay?”
Very exciting!

Well, that’s it for me for today. I’m going to go mow down some brie with raspberry jalapeno jam, try to get Meeps to nap and tidy up the house before Bob comes from from picking his Gran up from the airport.
The last few pics: Meeps with a measuring tape (childs favourite toy), squinchy nose Meeps, Puppers, The Freds, Bob IS ham, Wolf Girl of Kinloss.

squishy face is adorable!
so good to be reminded about the light at the end of the family bed tunnel. it’s important to keep in mind when i look at my partner on the other side of the vast expanse of baby in the middle.
Few things in this world are cuter than squinchy face babies…
Hello Freds!
Three years of bed sharing? That basically qualifies you for a degree!
Our thirteen-month-old has a crib in our room, which she will sleep in some nights. During other nights, (especially) in the middle of the night, she’ll wake-up and I’ll take her into our bed. It’s not always an end to the issue, because most of the time she’ll flip and turn around all over the place. It’s rough, but we’ve gotten used to it, and we could never imagine having her sleep in room all alone. Not until she is ready, of course.
I LOVE that hat!!!!!!!!!
just out of curiosity, how old is your daughter? My wife and I are thinking about moving our 14 month old daughter in with our 7-1/2 year old son and have absolutely no frame of reference…
It’s very 6 degrees of separation-ish to see things about Shannon Larratt when my friend is dating his ex Heather… and here *I* sit in San Diego. The internet is so weird.
(Also, Heather says hi from Philadelphia!)
I had to say, that squinchy nose Meeps picture is preeetttty much the cutest thing ever. You’re a lucky Mommy with those two monkeys!!
Jay — Meeps is 17 months. Bob didn’t move into his own room until 2.5 years, and he ASKED to do it. I think it went quicker for Maggie because her brother was there, so you might be golden. Kids understand more than we think, start talking to your son about “his own bed” and “kids room” and whatnot… and good luck!!
Congrats on the transition. Many folks cannot move from the family bed to the family’s beds. Good work!!!!!!
Just out of curiosity… What kind of bedrails do you use, and how are you protecting the floor from scratches? We bedshare and are thinking of putting a mattress on the floor for our 16 month old. Thanks!
Thank you for sharing your life with all of us!
Rachel, thought of scratches never occurred to me. We have wood floors, they’re not scratched yet anyway! The bedrails we have on our king size are “travel” rails, they collapse easily, arent very tall, and there can be gap between the bed and the rail because they just slide under the mattress. We like them on our bed because they are still safe and we dont have to feel like WE are sleeping in a crib. On the kids beds we have the kind that clamp down onto the mattress, so there is no gap and they are very tall.
Love, love, love that hat!
awesome update! you guys are the cutest family ever!
we’re starting the family bed adventure all over again. baby boy was born at home in the water on wed evening 11/18 at 8:21 pm after 24 hrs of 95% pain free (hypnobabies) labor.
