I’m so hardcore, even my goats wear cloth diapers.

(Hi HoneyHusbandSweetheartofMine. I know I promised not to bring the goats in the house. But while you were away in Calgary for 5 bedtimes, I needed a bit of a boost. I mean really. Baby dwarf goast… in cloth diapers… in our living room, prancing after our ugly cats? An excess of cuteness. And the couch has that great warranty after all…)
Alva and Amund the baby goats are doing great. They are both eating grain, growing madly and nursing like maniacs. They jump all over their mother, and me when I hang out long enough. I wish I had time to hang out with them MORE.
I’m not sure exactly what we are going to do with Amund. He is a beautiful little buckling, twice the size of his sister and he got onto the grain right quick. We’d like to keep a buckling (house him out back in a seperate pen & paddock with Bucky) but I’m not sure if we should keep THIS buckling. I’d really like whatever buckling we keep for breeding (and therefore don’t eat) to be small and he seems like he’s gonna be a pretty big boy. Though he’s clearly one healthy little dude, so maybe that overshadows the size factor.
I know he’s cute as heck, but they’re all cute.
And they’re all also delicious.
i had goat burgers for christmas dinner—they are delicious!
Male animals don’t have such a great lot in life, do they..
I guess that’s why I am vegan.
Love the pics of the little ones in the diapers.

Nothing makes the day happier than goat babies prancing in the house.
don’t eat him! i’ll help find him a home!
I forbid it.
goat meat truly is one my favorite meats. I am lucky enough to have a family member who raises goats (as I live in a highrise in the city) and eat regularly.
Neither do the females, Diane!
No new homes for anyone destined for the dinner plate; someone else who lead a less happy life would only take their place.
I think they lead quite happy lives on your farm. They are well cared for and are loved. And then they perpetuate happy lives of others as well by helping sustain them.
I giggled so hard when I saw goat babies in cloth diapers!!!!!!!
Awwww. I like the black and white goat. Too cute! I want to keep him myself. Although I don’t think my husband will find a diaper wearing goat quite as humourous as some of us do.
That picture just made my day…twice.
Love it! They’re so cute and getting so big to. I brought my “Momma You” a full grown ewe into my parents house many times when I was a teen (I needed a drink of water or something). It was funny to watch her look around so curiously.
Love the picture! Makes me want goats even more!
Goats are tasty. Have you ever tried mountain goat stew?
My pygmy goat LOVED to come into the house. She thought it was the best place ever. Unfortunately, she also would always pee/poop on the floor as soon as she came in (after that she was good, but that initial pee/poop was a bitch) so we had to keep her out. But she was swift, she would slip in very quickly when you blinked.
wonder if you can potty train/house break them… didn’t work so well with my son’s pet chicken…
So my 9 year old was nosing over my shoulder and said-”are those goats in the house?” and I was explaining a little bit about your house/farm/etc and she wanted to see more pictures, so I showed her some more pics on your blog, and then she asked-”so…when can we go visit them?”
lol
Praying that the healthy factor outweighs the size factor

I love your little ones.
After the film wraps I am buying a horse…
You will all be welcome to come and get a riding lesson.
so much meat out there, goats are just too cute and loyal to eat (for me). adorable babies
Unrelated entirely, but I’m curious–
What does your family do for sewage? Is it a traditional septic system, or do you reuse grey water at all?
Jeremy – we have a septic tank and have our own well. Hoping very much to get on the grey water tip soon, as well as rainwater collection. We’ve been collecting bits and pieces, rain barrels and whatnot. Getting our ducks in order.
We’d also like to get a solar hook up for a hot water system (have our eye on one at the hardware place around the corner)….
Very much looking forward to getting on it all.
a note about grey water-we are hoping to convince our landlord to let us install a grey water tank for our toilets-with 3 kids we use a LOT of water, and we could save over 40,000 gallons of water a year!! for people who pay for water by the gallon, thats a really good thing.
[...] passionate about her baby Nigerian Dwarf goats, which she allowed into the house recently – in cloth diapers — while her husband was out of town. Ashley’s videos, seen here and here, show why [...]
We came across this photo yesterday, did a little digging and found a couple of your goat videos as well so we featured you, and them, on allthingsgoat today. Just love the babies in the diapers!
Too funny! Do you use rubber pants with the cloth? LOL!
After seeing the goats in diapers in your living room, I let out a sigh of relief, that I am not the only one that lets their “kids” roam in the house. Last fall, on my way home from Vancouver, I picked up a momma goat with two little ones at her side, loaded them into my SUV and brought them straight into the laundry room. After the inital shock, my husband built them a goat “palace” outside. Needles to say, when the mom gave birth to another set of twins, the babies ended up in my bed. Currently, I am a mother to newborn lamb which was rejected by her mom. “Eva” lives in my office and occassionaly wears diapers and sweaters when we go out. She is doing well, and all children young and old love her.
