Joanne - I am an eyeballer, so I am quite useless for recipes. I pick as many calendula heads as I can, I make sure they are WELL covered in olive oil and I let them sit on stove over LOW heat for at least 24 hours.

I blend it with varying amounts of shea butter, jojoba oil, essential oils and whatever else I happen to have in my cupboard at the time of making!!

Hi,

We have lots of skin problems in our family. Would you be willing to share how you make the calendula lotion? What are the ingredients and how many flower heads are needed in relationship to the amount of oil used?

I'm really curious to know about the "no more nursing to sleep" situation. Did you end that phase, or did she? I only ask because my 7 month old nurses to sleep (well, until he's drowsy) and I've been 'warned' that I need to get him acclimated to not nursing to sleep, or FACE THE CONSEQUENCES. The only thing is that NO ONE can tell what the consequences are.
My little boy loves to nurse. It's a relationship we had to work hard at to establish, and it provides him a ton of comfort. I do see why I might need to eventually need to get him to not nurse before sleeping, but I'd rather not put him through that if I don't have to.
So, give me a retaliation story? You can email it to me if you'd like!

Oh my goodness Ash! Justin and I just came across this little nugget of knowledge today! What a fantastic site this is - how do you find the time for a daily blog AND be Mommy Extraordinaire?! I can't believe how big the kidlettes are getting - you really have such a beautiful family!

We're coming to the Kin on Sept 16th-23rd to show off the little yard ape...so I hope we can show off our new goods. You and Scott were completely right - there is nothing like being a mother! Thanks for all the love and guidance from your end - it really helped me get through some tough days... I'm happy to have found you again! Talk to you soon!

Skye, same here. My daughter (2.5+ years old) is very stubborn and still not looking like she'll "self-wean" anytime soon. I've got no idea what to do next, we'll just have to stick with it a bit longer. She's fully potty trained (day and night), but not weaned....feels a bit backwards. I don't mind the family bed though, but wish ours was a bit bigger (as she grows, it's getting smaller and smaller).

Hope the bedroom thing goes smoothly, wouldn't it be nice to have just a little bit more room in your bed?

Beautiful pictures of the Calendula, I have not been successful growing them yet, but really wish they would grow for me. I don't know why, buy maybe next year.

Jealous of your calendula over here. :) Can't wait until soap and lotion making becomes common place in our house.
And jealous of your little girl who goes to sleep so easily. Was there a trick to it? We're the opposite over here, James climbs into bed and pats the pillow and I'm expected to lay down and pull out the boobie. LOL

I love the divine Miss M in the back ground of the last picture. And what percentage, do you reckon, of Bob is ham? What a cute little boy!
