What an asshole. The good thing about small towns is that word will get around- if he thinks he's embarrassed now, wait a few weeks. And you can let word get around that your property is covered by surveillance cameras, and that you might shoot future trespassers.

I'm from the country myself, and the small-town human telegraph is a great way to warn people off without having a confrontation that could escalate. It is entirely possible that he could be dangerous, and the best defense is for him to know that you can be dangerous too.

Ah, I was just sitting here trying to figure out what on earth he would want you to apologize for and how he could possibly twist it around. But there is no way.

Ah -- screw him, he's a wack-job...

I agree with Caitlin when she says

"It’s fun to think of I’d do this or I’d do that scenarios, but when the reality of an angry, drunk, crazy, witless gun toting bastard lives across the field from you who thinks you’ve made him look foolish to his kin folks…I’d tread lightly. Especially considering that the police don’t seem to be interested in intervening."

We live out in the bush a bit and it's scary when you piss of a neighbor of that quality. Especially the potentially gun toting kind!

We've had our run ins with a guy up the street who we caught poaching deer in the middle of the night, drunk as hell, broken leg (yup, he was on crutches), and on private property. What a combo eh? We called the cops, made reports, tried to get conservation officers out and they ignored saying "the didn't have time" so the guy never got caught on the poaching (he shot a young doe deer, at night, out of season). It makes me sick what can go on and what is allowed by slack authorities (ie. police and the like).

I am just so glad that he is back for you, back to his normal everyday part of your family! What a "ride", I sure hope you can get off now!

Take care, be safe and I hope things calm down as the summer weather comes....

Get outta here!
Yeah, Id suggest stearing clear of that whack job. I was beside myself when finding out he dognapped Puppers and then gave him away when his wife didn't want him, then he doesn't even fess up and try to make it right but now he calls to harass you...
YIKES, MOMMA!

Making the complaint will help if it ever happens again, tho unfortunately it may not have this time.

I'm glad you got your puppers back. I would be pretty devastated if one of my fur babies wound up missing, I can only imagine how sad you were.

With that said; if this Ed person does decide to show up to get an apology have a camera with video capabilities or a camcorder ready. Just turn it on and start recording him at your door step. It makes for the best evidence when dealing with a harassing neighbor.

you know, all this reminds me that a few weeks ago, my husband heard the people who live behind us calling OUR CATS by name (what would the coincidence that they also have a cat named Eddie and Loki?) and that three of them regularly don't come home at night, but return at approx. the same time the next day.
he's supposed to go over there and have a talk with her, but is waiting to see if he hears it again...
people are really really really weird. Cats are plentiful, go get YOUR OWN.
