….he is NOW.
The short of the situation is this: Puppers was out noodling around on our sideroad and someone who drives around our roads very slowly spotted him. Puppers (who loves car rides) jumped right into their vehicle. They took him home. When they let him out to go pee (with no leash on), he bolted.
This couple who took him live one concession and two sideroads away from us. There are very few houses between us and them; just mile after mile of coyote infested wilderness. Thanksssss.
So he’s still been gone three nights, only now he’s been lost three nights miles from home. Gerbils would have better tracking skills than Pups. Hoping he’s jumped into somebody else’s vehicle. Been flyering all over town, at the vets, the grocery and convenience stores. Talked to the mail carriers. Have ads on the local radio and television. Have learned that:
* Rural mailboxes are strange places. While depositing a hundred flyers into boxes I have learned that we’re far from the only ones who have creepy crawlies in their box. One family had a nest of hungry baby birds in theirs.
* Coyotes may be the least of Puppers worries. Farm dogs are FIERCE. Mailmen out here must carry tasers, even just to stick their hands out of their car widows and into boxes. Hot damn, some heart racing moments.
Puppers & I in a former life:

……….
good luck! I’ve lost animals before and it stinks. On a positive note, we had a cat take off after a move an hour away from where we had lived. After about a month, we gave up the hunt. NINE MONTHS later we spotted her hunting in the nearby state park. A failed capture ensued, but a week later, she showed up on our back porch!
Godspeed to Puppers.
I can only wish you the best of luck in finding him!!! If I were nearby I would come join the search. I told my mom and sister about him so, even though they’re in Kincardine, not the country, they are privy to the situation and are keeping a sharp eye……
Thank you Hayley!
I sure hope he turns up. Hopefully sooner than later, I don’t need any more help in the lack-of-sleep department, that’s for certain.
I hope someone finds him soon. I’ve been a follower of yours for many years (IAM) and I remember when you got Puppers.
darling i am praying and wishing and hoping for puppers safety and quick return to you!
This just breaks my heart. I hope you find him soon.
oh no. i’m so sad for you! even though he made me scream when i first met him, he was a cute little dude.
i found a dog a few years back that was lost in the desert for 10 MONTHS!
when i called the owners, they thought it was a practical joke and hung up on me. it took three calls for them to realize i was serious and that they needed to come get their dog.
Ashley, keep working hard, keep flyering and doing all that hard work, I can promise that miracles DO happen. My mom’s dog ran away from a babysitter’s house in the depth of winter (I mean minus 20 degrees) a few years ago and she was returned home after 3 freezing nights outside. My mom worked tirelessly, 24 hours a day. I really wish I could help!
Thanks guys. Most of my flyers went out before mail delivery, so everyone out here oughta have gotten theirs by now… no phone call yet.
Am hoarse from all the yelling and trying not to think too may Fatal Attraction “I’ll boil your Llasa Ahpso in return” thoughts about the guy who took him and lost him. But am mostly trying not to cry.
While he does annoy the living heck out of us some days, I’d never wish this on him.
oh twwly, i am so sorry – i hope puppers is safe, i can only imagine how much you miss him
How very sad
I hope it makes it home safe and sound! Will keep my fingers crossed and send happy thoughts your way!
Beautiful picture by the way.
So sorry for you! I can’t imagine the frustration and sadness your feeling at this difficult time. I hope he returns safe and sound. Poor little guy! My fingers are crossed for you and Puppers! And I hope your throat heals soon….

Ooh nooooooo! Ash am so sad to hear this. We are on vacay with Tony and he mentioned Puppers was MIA. Cecil was once picked up by people who thought he was “lost” it was 24 hours of misery before they reached us and returned him to us – I can’t imagine 4 days.
